Biography

My name is Julia Farrell and I am a journalism major at The University of Texas at Austin. I am a Spring 2012 graduate of Klein Oak High School, which is located in Spring, Texas. My hobbies include dancing, reading, and traveling. I am an active member of Texas Student Television, UT's student-produced, FCC-licensed, digitally broadcasting television station. I volunteer my time to The University of Texas' morning news talk show, Good Morning Texas. I also am involved with UT's nightly news broadcast show, KVR News. My involvement with these television shows includes hosting, reporting, and writing stories for weekly programs. I have completed two journalism courses in the past year at UT, in which I've learned not only the foundations of journalism ethics, but also the basics of how to shoot video, edit, and create projects. These classes have exposed me to helpful tools such as Audacity, Soundslides, and Final Cut Pro.

I plan to continue pursuing my degree in journalism at The University of Texas. I will continue dedicating my time to Texas Student Television in hopes of gaining additional experience in the field of journalism and expanding my video editing skills. With my current degree plan, I plan to graduate from UT in the fall of 2016 with a major in journalism and a minor in Italian. After my studies, I aspire to be a broadcast journalist.
